MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: The Democratic Alliance in the North West has welcomed this week’s decision by the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Council instructing the Mayor of the district municipality, Khumalo Molefe to formally notify the Municipal Manager, Allan Losaba, of the intention to suspend him, with seven days allowed for his response.

The DA said this marked a crucial step forward in enforcing accountability after the Auditor-General issued a historic Certificate of Debt against Losaba. “As we have consistently stated, the repayment of R4.6 million is only the beginning. True accountability requires decisive disciplinary action. The DA will continue to monitor the process to ensure the Council fulfils its legal obligations without political interference that undermines consequence management,” the opposition party said in their statement on Tuesday.
“We will also formally request that the investigation be expanded to scrutinise the roles of the CFO and other senior officials, as well as the oversight responsibilities of Cllr Molefe, to prevent any possible cover-ups. Public resources must be protected, and those who betray the public trust must face the consequences.
“The people of Ngaka Modiri Molema deserve competent, honest and accountable leadership. Oversight will continue until every implicated official and political leader is held fully responsible for financial mismanagement,” added Sonakile.
