MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: The long wait is almost over except for the few logistics remaining to finally complete the re-construction of the Nelson Mandela Drive in central Mafikeng.

 

North West Premier - Bushy Maape, Leader of Government Business - MEC Nono Maloyi; Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure - Bernice Swarts; Kgosi ya Barolong Boo Ratshidi - Kgosi Jeff Montshioa; MEC Gaoage Molapisi of Public Works and Roads, Executive Mayor of Mahikeng Local Municipality - Tshepiso Mphehlo and senior government officials officially opened the Nelson Mandela Drive for traffic and the Welisizwe bridge in Montshioa Stadt in the Mahikeng Local Municipality.
The North West Provincial government has announced major developments with the intend of changing Mahikeng into the real capital City. Part of the development include road infrastructure of Mahikeng that is earmarked to a total spending of R460 million on new roads, resurfacing and R40 million for patching of potholes. 
Another developments were the upgrading of the Danville Bridge and N18 that led traffic in and out of Mahikeng.  South Africa
The Acting Premier Nono Maloyi said “The whole of the idea is to put Mahikeng on the map of improved city in the country as part of a major investment and economic drive. The road patching and pothole repairs is also part of the major development of other road, Lichtenburg, Koster, Derby to Magalies to commence in the new financial year. The delay was actually caused by the dispute between the main contractor and sub-contractor forcing the department to intervene on several occasion and the drainage system that was not off good quality. Our department has qualified engineers who have given us a report that the road was of good qualify and we are here to
