RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The recent North West Media Awards 2024 was a resounding success, honouring the finest in the North West media industry.
Held at the Rustenburg Civic Centre on Friday, 6 December, the prestigious event brought together media practitioners, go-vernment leaders, and industry stakehol-ders to celebrate exceptional achievements in journalism and broadcasting.
This esteemed event also made it official - the Rustenburg Herald was recognised as the top community newspaper in the province.
“On behalf of the North West Media Awards Committee, this is a well-deserved recognition of your dedication and exceptional work in community journalism. Congratulations on this achievement. We look forward to seeing more great work from your team in the future,” a re-presentative of the Awards Committee commented on the team’s achievement.
And indeed, it is a team effort. Although the names of our journalists are most recognised in the community, the weekly newspaper that is distributed is a combined effort of marketers who secure advertising bookings, a technical team who is responsible for the organisation of the paper, the layout designers who ensure the professional and seamless look of the paper each week and - not forgetting - the behind-the-scenes team who tirelessly work in our factory on the printing press.
The provincial event was graced by the presence of Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Kenny Morolong, and Rustenburg Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Shiela Mabale-Huma.
Both dignitaries presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to celebrated media personalities.
Deputy Minister Morolong highlighted the critical role of the media, urging practitioners to remain resilient and relevant in their reporting to uphold democracy and transparency.
Speaking at the event, the Founder and Chairperson of the North West Media Awards, Ananias Ndlovu, expressed pride in the achievements of North West media practitioners while emphasising the need to elevate the awards to national prominence.
The North West Media Awards continue to shine a spotlight on the province’s talented media professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and dedication to impactful storytelling.
