RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Rustenburg came alive this past weekend as residents gathered for a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and Family Day - a heartfelt event dedicated to promoting awareness, celebrating survivors, and honouring the memory of those who have lost their battle with cancer.

The initiative, led by the Rusty White organisation, attracted participants from all walks of life, proving once again that the spirit of community and compassion is alive and well in Rustenburg.
Among those in attendance were non-government organisations and the Rusty White team, who worked tirelessly to ensure a meaningful and memorable day. The venue was a hive of activity, featuring various stalls, food vendors, jumping castles for children, and live entertainment that catered to everyone in attendance.
The event began with a symbolic walk in solidarity with cancer survivors and patients, followed by fitness activities such as aerobics sessions. Participants also took part in the emotional T-shirt signing ceremony, where they pledged their continued support for cancer patients. Many wrote the names of loved ones lost to cancer on their shirts, a touching reminder of all the lives impacted by the disease.
Attendees listened to powerful testimonies from cancer survivors and families affected by cancer. Stoan Seate shared words of encouragement and hope, while Prody Letsho's presence added to the event’s spirit of unity and compassion, and Supreme Barber offered free haircuts to individuals choosing to shave their heads in support of cancer patients.
Participants were rewarded with medals at the end of the walk, as well as goodie bags containing water, energy drinks, fruit, T-shirts, and other tokens of appreciation. The day concluded with a lively R&B and soul music session, where attendees danced, laughed, and celebrated life together.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and Family Day was more than just an event, it was a celebration of courage, community, and compassion. It reminded everyone present of the importance of early detection, ongoing support, and standing together in the fight against cancer.
The organisers offered their heartfelt gratitude to all the sponsors, organisers, and volunteers whose hard work and generosity made the day possible. Participants left inspired and reminded of the power of unity in the face of adversity.
