RUSTENBURG HERALD - MADIKWE - The South African Police Service in Madikwe has welcomed the sentencing of 47-year-old Boiki William Modimokwane to 10-years direct imprisonment for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) in a domestic violence related matter. According to information received from Sgt Ofentse Mokgadi, Rustenburg police spokesperson, the incident was reported on 31 August 2024, after a woman was assaulted following an argument with Modimokwane.
The suspect allegedly attacked her with clenched fists and later used a steel pole to assault her all over the body. When the victim’s children attempted to intervene, he further threatened them with a spade. Neighbours managed to come to the victim’s aid, but the suspect fled the scene.

Working closely with Correctional Services, Det Sgt Marumo traced the suspect, who was subsequently arrested.
The case was thoroughly investigated and placed before the Madikwe Regional Court, where Modimokwane was convicted and sentenced on 18 August.
The Acting District Commissioner of Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2, Brig Mamotsamai Ntoagae, applauded the sentence, stating: “This conviction demonstrates our commitment to holding perpetrators of gender-based violence accountable.
