Egmond Vosloo - a well-known resident of Rustenburg and for years a Councillor of the Rustenburg Local Municipality - is currently in deep despair and doesn’t know where to turn to for help regarding the condition of this (yes indeed) “municipal road” on the southern outskirts of Rustenburg, practically within walking distance of the Rustenburg Kloof, the Kgaswane Nature Reserve, the Montugulu Traditional Village, the Rustenburg Cultural Centre and finally, the Rustenveld nature conservation area.
According to Vosloo, the road has been in desperate condition for at least the past five to seven years and very little, if anything, has materialised from persistent calls by the surrounding community and landowners in the area to have the road properly rehabilitated. Residents are not only at risk of damaging their vehicles, but also have to brace the danger lurking in the bushes as a result of motorists being restricted to a snail’s pace in order to reach their properties.
