RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG – Two suspects appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 19 June, facing two counts of murder, after they allegedly murdered an elderly couple at a parking lot at a well-known shopping Centre in Rustenburg.

According to reports, the couple was fatally shot after a confrontation ensued with the occupants of a white Kia Rio with no number plates. The two suspects, a 29-year-old and a 41-year-old, were arrested on Wednesday, 18 June, after a manhunt was launched by the police in Rustenburg. One of them was arrested in Boitekong, while the other was arrested in Rustenburg East-End. The vehicle as well as the firearm used in the commission of the crime were recovered by the police. The suspects made their first appearance in Court on 19 June and their case was postponed to Wednesday, 2 July, for formal bail application. During the proceedings, the Court ordered that the accused’s names should not be disclosed.
