Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The youth capacity building program hosted by the South African Youth Council Dr Kenneth Kaunda in partnership with the Office of the District Speaker and District Local Economic Development was a significant event aimed at empowering and equipping the youth with the necessary funding opportunities.

The programme, which took place on Saturday June 15, brought together young people from various backgrounds and communities within the district to participate a constructive dialogue regarding tools which the youth need to reclaim the township economy and create sustainable economic development. 

One of the key objectives of the program was to provide the youth with an opportunity to interact with the district Local Economic Development office to address issues that compromise their prospects to successfully secure grants. Participants had the opportunity to engage with the leadership of the South African Youth Council, ward 27 counsellor as a young leader in government and officials from city of matlosana local municipality office of the speaker. The presentation from district local economic development provided valuable insights into various industries, career paths and covered a wide range of topics, including leadership development, funding compliance requirements and entrepreneurship.

Moreover, the program also focused on promoting civic engagement and community involvement among the youth with respect to issues of strategic importance relating to the economy of the country. Participants were encouraged to take an active role in shaping the future of their communities and contributing to positive social change. Through interactive sessions the attendees developed a better understanding of the importance of active citizenship and the role they can play in building a better society.

The collaboration between the South African Youth Council Dr Kenneth Kaunda, the Office of the District Speaker, and District Local Economic Development was instrumental in the success of the program. By combining their resources, expertise, and networks, the partners were able to create a dynamic and impactful event that positively impacted the lives of the youth in the district.
