Lentswe, Jouberton - Children as young as nine years old are using a common sweet fizzy sherbet powder as a recreational drug and often get high during classes by inhaling it.
This is the reality faced by teachers in local township schools. According to a teacher at Iterele Primary School, Daphney Ankhoma, it is a national disaster. This sherbet, that is sold everywhere, is readily available and is usually ingested by sucking on a straw by users. The product retails R1 for a packet.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - SASSA has expressed concern by the upsurge in what appears to be unlawful deductions by financial service providers targeting social grants beneficiaries. SASSA has been inundated with enquiries from its beneficiaries, stating that their grant money is consistently being deducted by various insurance companies that they have not signed up for, believing that the agency is working with these companies. SASSA has consistently distanced itself from any insurance company that uses its name. CEO Themba Matlou has reiterated that SASSA has no authority to make any deductions on social grants without the consent of the beneficiaries.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Daily sewer spills in every town and township in the Kosh Area are a health hazards for the community and create irreversible damage to the environment. Lentswe is sent videos daily of sewer spills of which some have been ongoing for weeks with nothing being done. Orkney’s Sheridan Street sewer spill is a disaster for people living in the area, and despite sporadic work being done at the drain, the sewage problem there has been continuing for years now.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - A so-called statement by the SA National Taxi Council that it instructed South Africans not to use private vehicles or carry their families, caused a tsunami in the national media. Santaco (SA National Taxi Council) said this message is “false and misleading”. This comes after pictures and videos emerged on social media alleging that Santaco members prevented motorists from having more than one passenger in their cars. According to the reports, it did not matter if motorists were with their children, family, friends, or colleagues; they would damage, crash or even burn the car in public.
