The police in Ikageng made a massive drug bust when they stopped a Toyota Hilux on Saturday October 5, discovering more than340 kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R5 million. Two men were arrested. Asiphe Nomde (32) and Mncedisi Mthunzini (41) were released on a warning following their appearance in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on October 7. Lentswe, Stilfontein - The NW Provincial Commissio-ner, Lt-Gen General Sello Kwena, welcomed the arrest and subsequent appearance of a 39-year-old police sergeant in the Stilfontein Ma-gistrates’ Court last week, for defeating the ends of justice and perjury. “One of the members deployed for Vala Umgodi Operations arrested a foreign national for contravention of the Immigration Act. He further handed a statement from Department of Home Affairs confirming the (illegal) status of the foreign national to the investigating officer, Sgt Mmokwa Ratshoke, attached to Stilfontein Detectives.

New wheels for top teachers
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Two teachers from Jouberton won major awards at the National Teaching Awards last weekend. Both drove away with brand new cars! The two teachers are from Chris Hani Secondary and Are-Itshokeng Primary School respectively and both are over the moon. Jacob Mthimkhulu, an educator at Chris Hani Secondary in Jouberton, won the category excellence in teaching at a secondary school.
Family loses everything in fire
Lentswe, Alabama - A house in Ext 5 burned down earlier this week and the family lost everything in the fire. The house burned down on Monday October 7. Luckily, nobody was injured. The Acting Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana, Cllr Wesley Kgang, visited the family of five the next day to offer support. He was accompanied by the MMC Infrastructure, Cllr Steferd Barrends. Upon arrival at the house, the municipal leadership were deeply moved by the situation and they immediately offered assistance with necessities and also arranged for the house to be repainted.
