Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Last weekend, Klerksdorp was taken over by dinosaurs, drawing families from across the province and even further afield.

This educational exhibition, which has steadily grown over the last ten years, is turning into a major tourist attraction, generating local jobs and boosting businesses in every city it visits. The festival features life-sized replicas of dinosaurs from the prehistoric era, including iconic species like the Tyrannosaurus rex, Brachiosaurus, and Stegosaurus, which roamed the Earth around 150 million years ago.

This family-friendly event has welcomed thousands of visitors, including schoolchildren and families, who have enjoyed a range of exhibits and activities such as Jurassic Giants, a Reptile Show, Dino Street Theatre, dinosaur rides, instant photo opportunities, Dinosaur nest playground, electric trains, and much more.

“The poignant tale of the dinosaurs serves as a reminder for everyone to reflect on their actions to avoid the extinction of humanity. In recent years, we’ve been increasingly aware of global warming and climate change, which are escalating at an alarming rate,’’ the organiser said.

The last Dinosaur Exhibition in North West province occurred seven years ago.

The Dinosaur World team is thankful for the fantastic support from city officials and a variety stakeholders who have contributed to the success of the event.

The turnout from Klerksdorp and nearby towns was impressive, and they said they are eager to bring this event back in the coming years.
