The Anglican church Holy family commemorated October as Cancer month and the Mothers Union distributed gifts with the help of Rev Kebareng Shoroma. They wanted to show cancer patients that they are in their prayers. Two ladies and cancer survivors shared their journey with the disease with the congregation. Father Lesley Mokwena and Lucas Halom are also in the picture.
Family gets together
The Sereetsi family gathering was held at Khuma on Saturday November 1. Family from far also attended such as Botswana, Gauteng, Free State and Northern Cape. It was a wonderful celebration. Next year’s event will be held at Swyza, on November 1. Oupa Sereetsi, Millicent, Nancy, Motshidisi Moumakwe and Skake Thamae, as well Sereetsi descendants attended.Funeral, cemetery conference
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The inaugural NW Funeral and Cemeteries Conference 2025 with the theme Challenges facing the Modern day Funeral and Cemeteries sector in South-Africa will be hosted in Klerksdorp.
The event will be held on November 25-26 with the purpose to bring industry leaders, funeral parlours and stakeholders together under one roof and have robust dialogue about the challenges and shortcomings the industry is facing.
Teacher assistant contracts to expire
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The North West Department of Education issued letters to the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) Educational Assistants and General Assistants terminated their contracts at the end of November 2025 instead of December 2025.
The department’s Vuyo Mantshule announced this on Monday October 27. He said notifications were sent to assistants. The BEEI project was implemented in June 2025 throughout the country, but the North West Province only started in July 2025 due to recruitment challenges experienced. These challenges forced the province to delay the appointment of the EAs and GAs in June and to appoint them at the beginning of July 2025.
