Police vehicles at the scene where the body of an unknown man was found in the Vaal River. According to W/O Elize van Schalkwyk, police spokesperson, the police were called at around 15:30 on Friday 3 November after a floating body was seen in the Vaal River. It was spotted about 100m downstream from the Boating Club. Capt Brent Browning and W/O Fred Leach were deployed to recover the body. “It is a black man, between 30 and 50 years old.
The body was already in an advanced state of decomposition,” she said. He is fully clothed with no noticeable injuries. At the time of going to press, an autopsy was not performed.
