Lentswe, Klerksdorp - A jealous ex-boyfriend was back in court this week after he allegedly attempted to murder his girlfriend when she tried to leave him. Steven Moagi Pule appeared in court on Wednesday February 28. He was released on bail of R3 000.

He and Modiehi Kgalapha were a couple when Modiehi suffered a terrifying attack in July at a nightclub in the CBD. She was shot and stabbed after visiting the club. She survived the attack only to identify her ex-boyfriend as one of her attackers. She spent months in hospital.

She was back at court this week and was seen crying after her ex was granted bail.

Members of the ANC Women’s League were also at court for moral support.

“I want justice. He can’t just get away with what he has done,” she said.

Details of what occurred in July 2 sounds like a Hollywood movie… She parked in the parking garage and had a flat tyre. She asked passers-by to help her change the tyre when an unknown man wearing a balaclava started shooting at her. She was wounded in the chest.

Then her ex-boyfriend allegedly turned up, yelled at her for leaving him and then she was stabbed.

Kgalapha recounted how he allegedly begged her to take him back until she - bleeding heavily from her wounds - said yes.

“He then told the masked man not to kill me,’’ she said.

It was only in hospital that she told the nursing staff the ordeal she went through. She identified her ex-boyfriend and the police arrested him. She is still traumatized and the bullet is still stuck in her chest.

The case was postponed to March 20.
