Lentswe, Wolmaransstad - A  an who stabbed his girlfriend to death will spend the next 17 years in jail. Thabang “Leshala” David Masilo (28) was sentenced by the Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Court on Thursday November 2.  He was sentenced for murder and assault with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH), for stabbing to death his 24-year-old girlfriend, Lindiwe Delfa Tladi.
The court heard that he visited her at her house at Chris Hani Section in Tswelelang, when an argument ensued between them.
According to Lt-Col Amanda Funani, police spokesperson, he was accusing her of cheating and ultimately stabbed her with a knife.

“She managed to run to her neighbour’s house for safety, but the accused followed her and stabbed her together with the neighbour and both were transported to a local clinic. She was transferred to a local hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Although he fled the scene, he was arrested and charged with murder and assault GBH. He has been behind bars since his arrest and was declared unfit to possess a firearm. He was sentenced to 15 years for murder and two years for Assault GBH,” she said.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt-Genl Sello Kwena, thanked the Investigating Officer, Sgt Itumeleng Seboco of Wolmaransstad Detectives and all other role-players including the prosecutor for working together to secure the conviction which he said will certainly serve as a lesson that GBV will not be tolerated.
