Lentswe, Alabama - Kingdom Recovery is a volunteer group of Alabama who lends a helping hand towards drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation.
Currently they provide for 17 individuals in four different rehabilitation centres in Gauteng and need to raise R22 500 every month to pay for the six month programme. The programme started in June and it is a struggle to pay the funds due every month as they rely on funding from donors because many families cannot pay for the rehab themselves. “It is very sad that when a family comes to us with a patient that wants to go for rehabilitation then we have to put them on a waiting list due to lack of funds available.

“We can only do as much with limited resources but we are trying our utmost best to help the whole community and we trust and believe that God will help us help,’’ says Wizol Booysen, chairperson of the group.
He is joined by secretary Carl Holland and Cudwill Kampher (treasurer).

Kingdom Recovery is raising funds to help ease the load. “We would like to send more people for rehabilitation and to help clean our community and restore families.’’

On August 24, they presented the first “Park off and car wash’’ fundraiser in Alabama and it proved to be very successful. There were food stalls, local barbers to cut client’s hair, a car wash and music entertainment to keep the spirits high.

“Kingdom Recovery would like to show gratitude and thank each and every small business, organisation and Individual who participated and contributed towards this fundraiser,’’ Wizol said.

“And also to each and every individual who donated at the event and those donations monthly into the Alabama rehab funding account. We thank each and every single person who bought a ticket in order to support the initiative and also everyone who will continue to contribute towards our children in Rehabilitation Centres.’’
