Lentswe, Jouberton - A young woman from this kasi will be buried this weekend, after she was killed after visiting a local tavern. Masego Pholoholo (22) will be laid to rest on Saturday February 7. The service will be held at 18375 Ext 19, Jouberton at 07:00. Family and friends are calling for justice to be served after a man was taken in for questioning about her murder. The family of Masego Pholoholo is in mourning after her body was discovered in a shack over the weekend a few days after she was reported missing.  She was last seen while on a date with a mystery man at a local tavern on January 24. She never returned home.

 

Her family immediately expected the worse and turned to social media to get information about her whereabouts. It ended in tragedy. According to Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson, a body was discovered on January 28 inside an empty shack. “Someone smelled something foul and contacted the owner of an empty shack in Ext 11 to investigate. That‘s when they discovered a woman’s naked body. She was visibly assaulted. The body was identified as that of Masego,” she added.

Lentswe was told that the police know the identity and whereabouts of the last person who saw her. He was brought in for questioning on January 29. “He is a suspect, but we cannot link him to her death before the results of the DNA tests are available,” said Myburgh. 

The circumstances surrounding Masego’s death have been described by the family as violent and deeply traumatic. Masego was in matric last year and earned an income selling perfume.

Her family is calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into her murder.
