Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Farmers from the area have been hit hard by veld fires recently, with the loss of animals and thousands of hectares of grazing. Portable fire equipment and bags of molasses were handed to farmers at the Dr KK Disaster Management Centre on Tuesday October 10. Farmers gathered at the centre to receive this donation from the Dr Kennet Kaunda District Municipality.

Lentswe talked to three upcoming farmers of the area who were eagerly anticipating their donations. Sakkie Morure of Jouberton, Patrick Lenuru of Orkney and Tshepo Makabe of Jouberton said this equipment will be a great help as they have lost a lot during the dry season.

As the dry season is over, this equipment will help farmers in the 2024 dry season.
