Lentswe, Ventersdorp - The North West Department of Health in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District with different stakeholders has carried out a march against Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) in Tshing, Ventersdorp.
The march was led by the District Chief Director, BP Maboe, with officials from the department of health, SAPS, NPA, JB Marks Local Municipality and the Department of Social Development.

Maboe also lead the opening of the JB Marks CHC Kgomotso Care Centre, which aims to give care and support to victims of gender based violence in the Ventersdorp Local Area.

The centre features various health examinations and support functions from the National Prosecuting Authority, Social Development and the South African Police Service to streamline and fast-track the reporting and prosecution of cases all from one facility.

The District Chief Director has encouraged the Tshing/Ventersdorp community to take advantage of the services that the department has brought close to them.

“This centre is for you, the community of Ventersdorp. We would like all victims of gender based violence to rest in the knowledge that there is a support centre specifically focused in assisting them through their experience. It is a place of comfort and support,” he said.
