Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The 10th National Excellence Awards were held in Durban last weekend. North West based police officers brought home seven trophies from the function held on Sunday January 26. The awards, under the theme “Saluting Those Who Shine in the Line of Duty” were held to reward members and employees who excelled and went beyond the call of duty and contributed immensely towards the achievement of organisational strategic objectives in the financial year 2023 / 20.

Of the seven finalists, Col Thabo Sebatane and Lt-Col Keamogetswe Mzima scooped first positions for Operations and Detectives Member of the year: Level 8 -12. Sebatane is at Organised Crime in Potchefstroom and Mzima is at Phokeng K9 unit.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Patrick Asaneng said he applauds all employees for excellent performance and representing the province well at the awards. 

Other awards went to:
 - Col PP Van Der Westhuizen (2nd Runner-up: Administration Employee of the year: Level 8 -12. He is at the Provincial Office, Potchefstroom.
- Lt Col Mzana  (1st Runner-up: Visible Policing & Operations Employee of the year: Level 8 -12. He was working in Klerksdorp at the time of provincial awards, but is currently in Carletonville due to promotion.
- Sgt SW Nxumalo (2nd Runner-up: Operations Team of the year).    
- Lt Col MG Langa (1st Runner-up: Forensic Services Employee of the year: Level 8 -12. He was working at Psychology Unit at Provincial Crime Scene and Crime Scene Management, Potchefstroom, at the time of the awards. Currently working in Mpumalanga due to promotion). 
- R/Const SR Makabe (1st Runner-up: Reservist of the year. Working at Mahikeng Police station).
