Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The North West government has formally launched its Safer Festive Season Operational Plan 2025/2026, a comprehensive strategy to combat the heightened risk of crime and ensure safety during the holiday period. Spearheaded by the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster, the operation runs from October 1, to January 31 next year, in conjunction with Operation Shanela.

The launch on Friday October 17 saw the official handover of the Master Operational Plan by Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Patrick Asaneng to the MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessel Morweng. The event was presented at Jouberton.

A key element of the launch was a high-octane display of readiness: the Tactical Response Team (TRT) and the Public Order Police (POP) executed a dramatic operational simulation of a Cash-In-Transit (CIT) robbery in progress.

The event concluded with a march past and show of force. The parade, led by the SAPS Band and featuring integrated law enforcement agencies and a motorcade, was a visible declaration that law enforcement is unified and prepared to maintain a secure environment across the province throughout the festive period. Major General Asaneng acknowledged the salute.
