Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) has published the official fuel price adjustments for South Africa in May, showing that all grades of petrol became more expensive on Workers Day. The price of petrol increased by 37c per litre, while diesel dropped by as much as 36c per litre.

The DMRE attributes these changes to a rise in international product prices for petrol and a drop in those for diesel, as well as a depreciating Rand/US Dollar exchange rate.

The price of Petrol 93 and 95 increased by 37c a litre, Diesel 0.05% decreased by 30c a litre and Diesel 0.005% decreased by 36c a litre. For May, the Slate Levy remains unchanged at a rate of 21.92c/l.

The prices at the pumps: Petrol 93 increased to R25.25 a litre, Petrol 95 to R25.49 a litre, diesel 0.05% to R22.15 and Diesel 0.005% to R22.24.
