Lentswe, Orkney - There are still no new leads on the execution style murders on the banks of the Schoonspruit close to Kanana of two men believed to be Zama-Zamas. Orkney Police are investigating the double murder after two unknown bodies were found close to the Schoonspruit between Orkney and Kanana on Friday morning, April 19. A pedestrian alerted the police after he saw the bodies, which were found in bags. One of the bodies was floating and the other was next to the river.

Lt Col Amanda Funani, police spokesperson, said the two males are still unidentified. The deceased are believed to be in their early twenties. “The bodies were found with hands tied at the back, and both were shot in the head.”

Police believe them to be illegal miners. “At this stage, the motive for the killing is still unknown and investigations are ongoing,” Funani said.

Police request anyone who may have information that can assist in the investigations to contact Capt Brent Browning of Orkney Detectives on 082 416 4080 or the SAPS Crime Stop number: 08600 10111. Alternatively, information can be shared via MySAPS App on your smart phone.
