Lentswe, Klerksdorp - On Friday March 22, the Provincial Thuntsha Lerole took place in Khuma, Jouberton and Tigane. The event was led by the North West Premier’s Office in collaboration with Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality and the City of Matlosana municipality.

Operation Thuntsha Lerole is an initiative of the Premier’s office aimed at addressing various service delivery challenges in municipalities across the province. The main event was held in Khuma and was led by Acting Premier Hon Motlalepule Rosho accompanied by the Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana, Cllr James Tsolela.

During the Thuntsha Lerole in Khuma, Acting Premier Rosho handed over business operating licenses to the beneficiaries of a newly built Business Hub. The Business Hub is the result of the Local Economic Development efforts of the City of Matlosana to empower local communities to build sustainable businesses and participate in economic growth. The Business Hub offers various services such as catering, fashion design, butchery, tire making, beauty and massage parlour, among others.

Executive Mayor Tsolela and Acting Premier Rosho officially handed over title deeds to first-time house owners. The Thuntsha Letole in Tigane and Jouberton were led by the MEC of Health Hon Madoda Sambatha and the MEC of Education Hon Viola Motsumi. They handed out projects to Sekonyela grain project and Selame poultry project beneficiaries in Hartbeesfontein, handed over three completed RDP houses in Jouberton and donated school uniforms and sports attire to identified schools and teams. The two MECs were accompanied by MMC Sports Arts and Culture, Cllr Queen Mahumapelo and MMC Transversal Issues, Cllr Elizabeth Mabebe. 

During the feedback session, Hon Sambatha handed out title deeds to the Jouberton beneficiary and highlighted that the remaining title deeds out of the 3348 will be distributed to the beneficiaries by the councillors and ward councillors. The Department of Social Development handed over cheques to health community centres in Tigane.

Other public services provided during the event included the provision of agricultural support packages to identified schools and indigent families, clearing of illegal dumping sites, mass registration of indigents, consumer education, and compliance monitoring.
