Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has implemented the social grant increase for the April payments as announced by the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana during his budget speech held in February 2024.
The new grants starting April 2024 are as follows:
- The Old Age Grant is up to R2 180.
- The Old Age Grants for those over the age of 75 have increased to R2 200.
- Grants for War Veterans increased to R2 200.
- Disability Grants are up to R2 180.
- Foster Care Grants increased to R1 180.
- Care Dependency Grants rose to R2 180.
- Child Support Grant is increased to R530.
- Child Support Grant Top-Up increase to R780.
- Covid-19 SRD Grant increase to R370.
This adjustment is structured into two parts, an increase effective April 2024 and an additional one will be made in October 2024.
The SASSA/SAPO Card can be used to withdraw grants from any ATM or be used as a debit card at
point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
Beneficiaries can opt to have their grants deposited directly into their personal bank accounts. Alternatively, grants can also be collected at supermarkets such as Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Checkers, and Boxer nationwide.
