Lentswe, Ventersdorp - The police management in the Province welcomed the arrest of two men for illegal possession of an AK 47 rifle and ammunition in Ventersdorp. 
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday October 25, by a team comprising of Crime Intelligence and the Tactical Response Team (TRT). 
“The operation was conducted following the receiving of information regarding two males, who were seen sitting outside a restaurant in Van Riebeeck Street. Subsequent to the operation, the men were arrested and an AK 47 rifle and ammunition confiscated,” said Col Adéle Myburgh, police spokesperson. 

Oliah Mthetwa (43) and Samuel Ngonyamo (41) appeared in the Ventersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Friday October 27, for unlawfully being in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

They were remanded in custody and the case was postponed.
