Police vehicles at the scene where the body of an unknown man was found in the Vaal River. According to W/O Elize van Schalkwyk, police spokesperson, the police were called at around 15:30 on Friday 3 November after a floating body was seen in the Vaal River. It was spotted about 100m downstream from the Boating Club. Capt Brent Browning and W/O Fred Leach were deployed to recover the body. “It is a black man, between 30 and 50 years old.
Nothing done to relieve sewage crisis
Lentswe, Orkney - The DA Klerksdorp wants the minister for Water and Sanitation to intervene in the persistent sewage crisis they say is robbing residents of their dignity.
According to Cllr Chris Bester, seventeen of the 22 sewerage pump stations in Matlosana constantly overflow with raw sewage. He said all five pump stations in Orkney are dysfunctional, and are polluting residential areas.
Girlfriend killer sent to jail
Lentswe, Wolmaransstad - A an who stabbed his girlfriend to death will spend the next 17 years in jail. Thabang “Leshala” David Masilo (28) was sentenced by the Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Court on Thursday November 2. He was sentenced for murder and assault with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH), for stabbing to death his 24-year-old girlfriend, Lindiwe Delfa Tladi.
The court heard that he visited her at her house at Chris Hani Section in Tswelelang, when an argument ensued between them.
According to Lt-Col Amanda Funani, police spokesperson, he was accusing her of cheating and ultimately stabbed her with a knife.
Criminals behind bars in NW
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Police arrested 617 suspects during Operation Shanela which was conducted from November 2 till 6. The suspects were amongst others, arrested for rape, murder, assault GBH, malicious damage to property, burglary residential and business premises, theft of motor vehicle and motorcycle, theft out of / from motor vehicle and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Family wellness days

The first event took place at Living Waters in Kanana on November 8. The remaining events: November 9 at 7148 Sothomela Street, Khuma and November 10 at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Ext 20, Jouberton.
