Lentswe, Potchefstroom - More than 900 suspects were nabbed over the weekend in the province in Operation Shanela. During last week’s operations conducted between Thursday to Sunday March 7 to 10 a total of 974 suspects were nabbed for various crimes. Lt Col Amanda Funani, police spokesperson, the suspects were, amongst others, arrested for rape, murder, assault GBH, malicious damage to property, burglary residential and business premises, possession of drugs, theft out of/from motor vehicle, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Lentswe, Kanana - The police registered nine cases in Kanana after the funeral of a gangster over the weekend. The funeral on Saturday March 9 came with its own challenges when mourners took to the R30 and disrupted traffic with reckless behaviour on the road. One motorist said cars were spinning on the road with crowds of people looking on. “As a motorist I felt threatened and could not see any traffic officers or law enforcement.’’

The City of Matlosana said in a notice that residents will experience an interruption in water supply on Saturday and Sunday March 16,17. The interruption is due to the cleaning and disinfection of Alabama 4,5Ml and 26Ml reservoirs on respective days.
