Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Operation Shanela is keeping SAPS busy with more than 5 000 actions in different parts of the province in a period of six days. The actions included the inspection of licenced liquor premises, second-hand dealers, informal businesses as well as searching of premises, persons and vehicles that resulted in the arrest of 1 115 suspects for different offences.  “Of these arrests, 419 were effected during detectives suspect raiding operations.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) held a crucial public engagement session at the Matlosana Auditorium Hall, providing an opportunity for community members to review and contribute to the Annual District Report for the 2023/2024 financial year. The session was led by the Acting Chairperson of MPAC, Cllr James Tsolela, and was attended by key municipal leadership, including the Dr KK Executive Mayor, Cllr Nikiwe Num, who presented the District Municipality’s achievements for the year. Setting the tone for the day, Speaker of Council, Cllr Xolile Nxozana, delivered the opening remarks, while Single Whip, Cllr Jeffrey Lesie, closed the session with a summary of the discussions. 

Lentswe, Stilfontein - SAPS and the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management announced the latest crime stats for the province at a media briefing session on Wednesday March 5. The period is for the last quarter of 2024.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Operation Shanela in the province continues to ensure that serious and violent crime suspects are arrested through execution of various actions. The police had their hands full as they arrested 892 suspects during operations in various parts of the province between February 24 and March 2.
