Kanana man gets 10 years jail time for gun, ammo
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court sentenced David Mogori (37) to 10 years imprisonment on Monday July 15 for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Mogori was arrested in October 2018, following a tip-off received by members of the Klerksdorp based Serious Organised Crime Investigation about a suspect who was seen in possession of firearms in Kanana.
Brown onion gravy taken off shelves
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Knorr has ordered all stores to remove its brown onion gravy from the shelves. According to Anastacia Subrumuny, spokesperson, the company discovered that a small batch mistakenly contain the ingredients of the Knorr “Professional Brown Sauce Base”. The affected stock contains cow’s milk and soy as allergens, which are not included on the packaging of the brown onion gravy. “We did not receive any complaints or news about consumers getting ill. We discovered it in our factory and decided to act pro-actively,” she said.
MEC injured in road accident
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Agriculture MEC Madoda Sambatha was rushed to hospital in Klerksdorp earlier this week after he was involved in an accident on the R30 near Ventersdorp.

Former policeman in court for robbery
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Four accused, including a dismissed police officer, were expected to make a second appearance in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court this week for unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition. Thembinkosi Mbatha (30), Motsaathebe Kopano (51), Gareng Dikgang (35) and Fikile Darala (51) initially appeared in court on July 10.
