Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The young karatekas of Ryu Kyu Goju Karate graded recently and also competed at the SA Nationals with flying colours. The club took nine new national championship titles at the national event in Pretoria. Sensei Nathen Olivier is the star of the club. He competed in his age group and belt division and excelled. 

He is the new MASA national kumite champion, the new national weapon kata champion, the new point sparing champion, continuous sparing champion, Ju-Jitsu kumite champion and he placed third for kata and third for combat weapons.

Olivier is third on the ranking list out of 629 competitors and also worked as a referee and centre referee at the championship.

Ruben Else (in his belt and age group) is the new national combat weapon sparing champion and also the national point sparing champion. He also received a second place for continuous sparing and fifth place for kumite.

Tumi Kedamile (in his belt and age group) is the new national kumite champion. He also received a second place for kata.

Joseph Kedamile (in his belt and age group) is the new national kumite champion. He also received a second place for kata.

Kaylee Emdin (in her belt and age group) ended in fifth place for kata. Emdin, Doewayne Randall and Prince Kedamile served as table officials.

Gasshuku (an intensive training camp) partial grading for students who attended class for the past six months, took place on June 28. Marko Blignaut received his Jnr Brown Belt (jnr 3rd Kyu); Tumi Kedamile his Orange belt (7th Kyu); Ruben Els his Orange Belt (7th Kyu) and Joseph Kedamile his Yellow Belt (8th Kyu).

A full Dojo Grading will be held in November.
