The South African Mathematics Challenge (SAMC) took place from 10-14 March 2025, providing young learners with an opportunity to showcase their mathematical skills. Unlike traditional math competitions, SAMC pushes Grade 4-7 learners beyond the standard curriculum, encouraging them to think critically and solve complex problems across three challenging rounds.

For the first time, Floradene Primary School participated in the competition, and their learners have made an impressive start. After successfully completing the first round manually, a group of determined students has advanced to the second round, which will be held online in May 2025. The following learners and educators are part of this exciting journey: Elmoreen De Koker (Gr 4 Maths educator), Mmapaseka Botha, Omolemo Josia, Katlego Molebalwa, Boinelo Bothito, Joseph Miguel, Tshwarelo Keepeng, Hanan Eldeib (absent), Anthea Visagie (Gr 6 Maths educator), Aosego Tong, Ofentse Mochwaedi, Rebaone Kemosedile, Keletse Mamethe, Kagontle Motsage, Ava Peacock, Oratile Lephoi, Finicky Mokoena, Rebaone Thage, Tylize Ward, Waylean Fortuin (Gr 7 Maths educator) and Bofelo Moreri (absent). This marks a significant milestone for Floradene Primary School, and the entire school community is proud of these learners’ achievements. We wish them all the best as they prepare for the next round of the competition.
