STELLALANDER- VRYBURG: Vryburg or known as the “Texas of South Africa” is pulling out all the stops as it gets ready to host the Tsa Bokone Farmers Market five-year celebration on Saturday, 20 September 2025, at the breathtaking Kameelboom Lodge at Vryburg.
What began as a small gathering has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated annual highlights, and this year promises to be the biggest celebration yet. With over 1,500 visitors expected and 50 exhibitors showcasing the very best in farming, food, and entrepreneurship, the Farmers Market has firmly established itself as the heartbeat of agriculture and community spirit in the Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.

Families can look forward to more than just an exhibition, the event has built its reputation as a vibrant, family-friendly festival, blending agriculture with culture, learning, and fun. Children will have plenty to enjoy while parents explore the diverse range of stalls, from innovative agri-businesses to traditional farming stories. Among the must-see highlights is the ever-popular Botshelo Maogwe, fondly known as the “Texas Cowboy”, who will thrill audiences with his passion for horse racing and grooming. Visitors will also meet inspiring entrepreneurs like Neo Leburu, whose success in poultry farming has made her a role model for young farmers across the region. And when it comes to entertainment, the stage will come alive with a show-stopping performance by Shandesh, one of South Africa’s top female vocalists, supported by an exciting line-up of local talent guaranteed to keep the crowd on their feet. The driving force behind this remarkable journey is Tlhompho Mekgwe, a pioneering businesswoman whose vision has turned the market into a beacon of opportunity. For five years, Mekgwe has worked tirelessly to give farmers, small businesses, and communities a platform to shine, and the five year milestone is set to be a true celebration of growth, resilience, and heritage. Gates open at 9:00, and organisers are encouraging the public to arrive early to soak in the full experience of exhibitors, entertainment, and family festivities. This is more than an event, it’s a celebration of agriculture, entrepreneurship, and community pride in the heart of the “Texas of South Africa.”
