BRITS POS – BRITS – Although small, Brits/Hartbeespoort Hospice’s team is dynamic and able to provide a unique and priceless service in the Madibeng area.
Brits/Hartbeespoort Hospice has been a significant part of the local community for 24 years, lending a helping hand to all those going through illness and for those requiring palliative care.

Hospice is currently providing care to more than 111 patients in Bokfontein, Damonsville, Brits, Hartbeespoort and Broederstroom, and according to Brits/Hartbeespoort Hospice’s professional nurse and manager, Lynette Janse van Rensburg, most people think Hospice is the terminal and final stage, but says Sr Lynette, “it is a holistic approach- and if you think of palliative care, it is comfort and supportive care, providing tender loving care in the comfort of the patients’ homes, Van Rensburg says. “Our aim is for our patients to be comfortable and to be cared for, to give bereavement counselling, emotional care, spiritual care as well as psychosocial care.”
For the team to provide this important and necessary service, donations are so necessary. Donations like non-perishables for food hampers and petrol for vehicles to be able to visit the patients, would be highly valued.
As part of Hospice’s Winter Warmth Challenge, the support of businesses and individuals are needed to collect enough warm clothes, socks, gloves and blankets to distribute to those fighting terminal illness in icy weather.
For more information and the collection of donations call Lynette Janse Van Rensburg on 083 536 6997.
