BRITS POS – BRITS - The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng, has seen social media postings that shows as yet unidentified heavily armed individuals running amok and shooting at others.
He said: “This brazen lawlessness is not going to be allowed, despite the reasons given by those involved and the police are going to decisively enforce the law.
“Only police have the authority and legal mandate to prevent, combat crime including upholding and enforcing the law and as such, the misguided and unlawful use of heavily armed private securities, especially in the unregulated chrome mining areas of the province by some individuals including security companies’ owners, in violation of the law and the authority of the state, is going to be dealt with by the police.”
