BRITS POS – BRITS – Seth Vallance, a former head boy of Thornhill Primary School, is continuing to make his hometown, Brits and his parents, Sharlene and Shelton, residents in Skeerpoort proud after earning national recognition in the United States, for both academic and sporting excellence. Now based at Queens University of Charlotte, North Carolina, Seth is currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme at the university’s prestigious McColl School of Business, while competing at the highest level of US collegiate rugby.
Seth was recently selected to the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) All-Tournament Team (Men’s) following the 2026 Collegiate Rugby All-Stars Tournament held in Atlanta last week. The tournament brings together the top collegiate rugby players from across the United States, with honors awarded strictly on performance at national level.
Representing Queens University as part of the Southeast Bears, Seth delivered a standout tournament, including a hat-trick in pool play and a crucial try scored in the championship final.
In its official tournament report, National Collegiate Rugby acknowledged Seth’s impact, stating: “Seth Vallance, out of Queens University in Charlotte, would score one more for the Bears with five minutes left to play.”
Following the tournament, Seth was named to the NCR All-Tournament Team (men’s) - a national honor recognizing the tournament’s top performers and regarded as All-American-level recognition within US collegiate rugby.
Balancing the demands of postgraduate study with elite sport, Seth’s progress at Queens University reflects both academic commitment and athletic discipline. His MBA studies form part of a longer-term focus on leadership and business development alongside his rugby career.
With the new collegiate rugby season set to begin later this year, supporters back home will be watching with pride as the former Thornhill head boy continues to represent his roots on an international stage.
