RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - It's never too early or too late to ring in the weekend with a gin cocktail, a gin and tonic or simply a tot of gin! Hedgehog's Nest was brimming with activity, laughter and music this past Saturday when The Schweppes Gin Festival came to our neck of the woods.

The entire venue was even more inviting than usual with a main "party" tent in front of the stage area, tables and benches under umbrellas in the garden and the main hall set up to allow for numerous gin stalls to offer festival goers a taste (or more) of locally and nationally brewed gins. Both locals and a few out-of-towners, attended the event in large numbers and danced the night away.
The gates opened at 12:00 and members of the public started pouring in with excitement as they received their free gin cocktail upon arrival. Various gin exhibitors such as Marula Cheesecake, Deuce, Valerian and Kosmosis enticed festival goers with tastings of their finely distilled beverages.
Rustenburg Herald, in conjunction with organisers of the Festival, gifted six double tickets to locals who entered a lucky draw last week: Boipelo Sepeng, Tavin Patchappan, Trevor Few, Sammy Mendoza, Bianca Lubbe and Ellen Grové were the lucky winners. Sepeng was grateful for the opportunity to attend the Festival and commented that she "had lots of fun". Another ticket winner, Grové complimented the organisers as the stall attendants were "friendly and there was something for everyone's taste."
Later in the evening, DJs Naak, Biggy and Neps kept the party going into the late evening as the feet started itching for dancing after some sunshine, excellent gin and good vibes!
