RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The Bojanala Platinum District Municipality's soccer team is the new North West Provincial Soccer Champions.
This after the District Municipality soccer team proceeded to the finals at the South African Municipal Sports and Recreation Association (SAMSRA) Provincial Games held from 6 - 9 June 2024, at the Moses Kotane Local Municipality sports grounds.
These games are an annual event or tournament comprising of various sporting codes, namely, volleyball, tennis netball, squash and football, played by employees from all four district municipalities in the North West province, that is, Bojanala, Ngaka Modiri Molema, Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati and Dr Kenneth Kaunda. The objective is to enhance and inculcate the spirit of wellness among employees, which translates into a healthy and productive municipal workforce, thus able to render much-needed services to communities.
"This is inspiring news. Our soccer team has made Bojanala District proud by being crowned 2024 soccer team champions in the province. We are looking forward to them defending their championship successfully next year," remarked Acting Municipal Manager, Dr Auchalie Mothupi, on receiving the good news.
