With apologies to the South African taxi industry, Rustenburg motorists will agree that taxi drivers are not necessarily the most popular people in the country. But as is often warned - it is dangerous to generalise… Last week (Thursday and Friday) saw this group of taxi drivers and a number of their colleagues taking it upon themselves to in their own time and at their own cost, repair a months old dangerous trench (originally a pothole) in the heavily congested Faisal Mafa Drive between Econo Foods and the Cornerstone Lifestyle Center (new Food Lovers Market) at the Waterfall Mall.
Private citizens and motorists taking to the streets so to speak to repair roads and related infrastructure at their own cost has become an almost daily exercise which often goes unappreciated. This group of taxi drivers who have made this section of road much more tolerable to fellow motorists are Lucky Moloi, Junior Malefetse, Kabelo Dire, Thabo Nokwane and Obakeng Semathu. Good job guys!
