Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has noted with concern the rising number of scam incidents involving individuals who falsely claim to represent the department and demand payment for employment or learnership opportunities.

According to the manager: Communications, Busisiwe Shibambo, members of the public are warned that DCS does not charge any fees for recruitment, learnerships, internships, or job placements. “These scammers often use social media platforms, WhatsApp messages, and unofficial communication channels to deceive and exploit desperate job seekers. In some cases, they even impersonate officials or use the names of real employees to appear legitimate.’’

The Department would like to emphasize that all legitimate DCS vacancies and opportunities are advertised through their official website (www.dcs.gov.za), reputable national newspapers, and other verified communication platforms.

“We strongly urge community members not to fall victim to these scams. Do not pay money or share your personal information with anyone promising employment or training on behalf of the department. Instead, report such cases to your nearest police station, or call the National Anti-Corruption Hotline at 0800 701 701.
