Lentswe, Klerksdorp - A Soweto woman was arrested by the Hawks in what appeared to be carefully orchestrated
fraud. Victorina Moloi (45) appeared in the local magistrate’s court on Tuesday March 18 concerning two payments amounting to R642 000 that ended in her bank account in February 2023.
According to WO Amogelang Malwetse, police spokesperson, the complainant, a financial manager at a local firm was making online payments to a supplier when his email was intercepted. This resulted in two payments deposited in the wrong bank account.
“The matter was referred to the Klerksdorp Hawks and a probe revealed that the money was deposited in the bank account belonging to Moloi,’’ she said.
Moloi was released on bail. The case is postponed to April 24 for legal representation.
