Lentswe, Klerksdorp - People came in numbers to remind themselves of their heritage, said Leano la bophelo founder, Rathebe Mojaki at the end of their heritage celebration at Goudkoppie. The event was attended by dignitaries from Provincial departments of Sports, Arts and Culture, Education, City of Matlosana, North West University and more persons contributing to the heritage, arts and craft fraternity. Dignitaries could not stop singing songs of praise of the event that united the communities of Matlosana. Local artists and crafters showcased their talent through dance, song, display, marketing and selling of art work.

Traditional healers were also recognized for their contribution in promoting and protecting our cultural heritage. The Executive Mayor of City Matlosana, Fikile Mahlophe was the key note speaker and thanked Leano la Bophelo for its dedication in restoring heritage assets across Matlosana as well as partnering with City of Matlosana.

He also thanked the organisation for its grave site cleaning campaign which took place on September 19 as a build-up activity for promoting our heritage. He mentioned that Leano la Bophelo is doing outstanding work to the people of Matlosana. 

The festivities ended with enjoyment of performances from cultural groups, solo artists, jazz bands, poetry and story-telling acts. 

Leano la Bophelo would like to thank everyone who attended and celebrated the day with and thanks to NLC for its support towards restoring Goudkoppie Heritage Hill and activities carried out.
