MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: Members of the ANC Mahikeng Sub-Region, camped out for more than 20 days at the Gertrude Mphekwa House, burning tyres and calling on the Provincial ANC to attend to issues that were affecting the provincial and the regional office.
Working staff were evacuated from buildings after allegations that they were faced with various challenges that included late payments, bad working conditions and lack of visibility by its PEC leadership in the provincial office.
A fuming protestor, Tshepo Boyza said, “Our complaints/grievances are pertaining to lack of visibility of the leadership - both in the Provincial office and Regional offices, however, we are not happy about how the ANC leadership is running the provincial office as further programs of the ANC has been neglected, included membership programs and other activities. We have raised very sensitive matters which requires their intervention, accountability and responsibility.
Some part of provincial and local governments and/or Provincial Executive Members deployed for political oversight, must oversee good governance.
“We also shared crucial information which involves some executive members - both in the region and province for their unjustifiable exercise of authority (abuse of process), money laundering, racketeering and corruption. We have campaigned for 27 days outside the provincial office. None of the leadership attended to us. It’s unfortunate that the ANC is in the hands of useless and corrupt leaders who interfere with processes of government. National leadership is aware that we are here, but they try to bully us in order to not attend to our grievances.
“We are well aware that members of the ANC-NEC have put their hands in the cookie jar. They are compromised - that’s why we demand intervention of the President of the ANC and the country,” said Boysa.
