NOORDWESTER – KOSTER - Police in Koster disarmed and arrested a suspect for unlawful possession of a firearm on 7 February.
Meshack Mokone (50) was arrested after he tried to sell a 9mm pistol to a police officer at a hitch-hiking spot in Koster. According to reports, police made a follow up on intelligence about a man who was selling a firearm. Mokone was consequently arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearm. He appeared before the Koster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 9 February, and was remanded in custody.
Fraud linked to Funeral Policy
NOORDWESTER – OTTOSDAL - Two suspects, aged 29 and 40, are expected to appear before the Ottosdal Magistrates’ Court for alleged fraud.
The suspects were arrested by North West Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) and Commercial Crimes Unit (CCIU)on Tuesday, 6 February after being linked to a fraud case, which was registered at Ottosdal in September 2022.
Reports suggests that one of the suspects presented himself as a 64-year-old and took a funeral policy through the assistance of the 40-year-old suspect. According to information, Itumeleng John Ngakaemang (64) was found stabbed and strangled to death at his residential place at Letsopa Location on Sunday, 25 September 2022. Investigations were conducted and Dorothy Moleleki (47), and other three suspects were apprehended and linked to the murder of Ngakaemang.

Die jongste kragonderbreking volg nadat ʼn ondergrondse kabel tussen die hoofsubstasie en ʼn kleiner substasie in 12e Laan in Burgersdorp op 30 Januarie onklaar geraak het.
Anti-Fraud and GBV awareness campaign
NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - The Lichtenburg SAPS Community Service Centre (CSC) Constable Matli, Sector 2 commander Cat Sebothe, Crime Prevention Youth Desk representative, B Gause and M Maleshane in partnership with the Boikhutso location CPF and CIB conducted a GBV, ANTI-FRAUD campaign while doubling their efforts to ensure that the Boikhutso community eradicates crime within the neighbourhood.
Through the mobile SAPS Community Service Centre, members are bringing services closer to the people and increasing police visibility there by also helping with certifications and affidavits for everyone.

NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - Kolonel Willem Bekeer bevestig dat Lichtenburg SAPD, K9 Mahikeng TRT, Mahikeng POP, Ditsobotla Plaaslike Verkeer, Plaaswag en Gemeenskap in blou op Woensdag, 24 Januarie ‘n gesamentlike operasie uitgevoer het ter herinnering aan die verkeersbeampte en kollega Khumo Gabriel Kalebe wat op 4 Januarie oorlede is.
Hy is op 13 Januarie ter ruste gelê. Die operasie het om 06:00 afgeskop. Twee spanne het gelyktydig twee gebiede gemonitor.
