These frontline workers dedicate their lives to providing essential medical services, yet they continue to face physical assault, verbal abuse, robberies, and even fatal attacks while on duty. Such incidents severely undermine their commitment to delivering healthcare services and put their lives at risk.
According to Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, SAPS North West spokesperson, the Mooinooi Police are investigating three cases relating to this incident.
“Two cases of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) - this is with regards to the injured men that were brought to Bapong Clinic for medical attention,” says Brigadier Mokgwabone. The men allegedly fought at a tavern and both were stabbed and registered cases against one another.
“A Common Assault case was opened by the 45-year-old female security guard who was slapped by one of the injured men’s friends. The security guard was on duty at the clinic and attempting to intervene when one of the injured men’s friends demanded that their friend be helped after entering the clinic, but police investigations into the cases are continuing,” concludes Brigadier Mokgwabone.
