BRITS POS – BRITS – On Tuesday evening, 16 April around 19:50 motor vehicles were travelling on the N4 direction Pretoria and a number of kilometers after exiting the Brits Toll Plaza, a man who was driving from Rustenburg to Pretoria with his father, hit one of the rocks that were placed on the road by thugs, which caused a puncture to one of the tyres.
They stopped on the side of the road to inspect the damage and the driver called his cousin to inform him about their dilemma.
Then they were approached by three males, demanding money and their belongings.

According to SAPS Bojanala spokesperson, Constable Ben Moabi, the victims were taken into bushes where the suspects demanded more money and the driver had to call his wife to transfer money.
When private security companies and police arrived at the scene, the suspects fled the scene on foot and no shot was fired.
In another incident, according to the spokesperson of Bojanala Platinum Highway (N4), Charmain van Wyk, at the Ga-Rankuwa off-ramp bridge from the N4, also direction Pretoria a motorist hit one of the numerous rocks that were placed on the road, causing a tyre puncture, forcing him to stop.
The four occupants exited the vehicle and four males pounced on them, held them at gunpoint, demanding money and cellphones. As the suspects ordered the occupants to sit down and remove their shoelaces, private security personnel arrived and a shootout ensued and the suspects fled the scene.
SAPS Bojanala spokesperson, Constable Ben Moabi confirmed that not one of the victims were injured. At our going to press the makes of the vehicles could not be confirmed.
Bojanala District Commissioner, Major General Mosimanegape urged motorists to exercise caution on the N4-Bakwena road, especially at night and added that, should this happen, they should keep on driving as far from the scene as possible to inspect damage and do repairs to the vehicle. He further committed that response units have been deployed to patrol the N4 Bakwena Highway and the R566.
