BRITS POS – PRETORIA - The Pretoria Regional Court postponed the corruption case against Kishene Chetty and 23 co-accused, who include 13 former police officers, six SAPS administrative clerks as well as various business persons to 30 September 2024, for the legal aid attorneys to study the disclosures that were provided by the state in preparation for pretrial conferencing.
The applications for legal aid were confirmed for five of the accused whose legal aid applications with Legal Aid South Africa were pending.

A Legal Aid South Africa representative confirmed that two have been appointed attorneys and the remaining three will be appointed attorneys prior to the next court date. He further confirmed receipt of disclosures from the state to prepare for pretrial conferencing.
The 23 are facing charges of fraud, theft, and corruption tied to the South African Police Service (SAPS) contract for vehicle repairs in the period May 2017 to November 2017. The accused are alleged to have colluded to benefit Paroex Auto and Mechanical Holdings PTY LTD. The businesspersons involved are Kishene Chetty, Volan Prithiviraj, Kumarasen Prithiviraj, and Linda Lubanyana.
