BRITS POS – BRITS - South Africa commemorates Child Protection Week (29 May until 05 June) which is embedded on the protection of the rights of children in accordance with the Children’s Act (Act No 38 of 2005).
“It is against this background that  members of Brits Social Crime Prevention, District  Communication, Community Police Forum , Department of Social Development and CMR Brits embarked on an awareness campaign on Monday, 03 June, to educate learners  at Tebogo Primary School  in Sonop,

about their constitutional rights - such as the right to live, be educated, have identity, have shelter and food, to be protected from any form of abuse and have access to health care,” says SAPS Brits spokesperson, Maria Nkabinde.
In addition, Grade 4 -7 learners were sensitised that no one has the right to violate their rights and the police are mandated by the constitution to create a safe and secure environment.
They were encouraged to break the silence and report to their teachers and parents any form of abuse they are subjected to.
