BRITS POS – JERICHO - Mandela’s Spirit of servanthood and making a difference in the community inspire football teams in Jericho Four Masters football and teams gathered at Charles Mamogale Primary School in Jericho, Brits on Saturday, 20 July, to donate sanitary towels and other goodies to the school as part of the commemoration of Nelson Mandela Month and Mandela Day.

The teams, Jacaranda Masters from Pretoria, Brits Masters from Brits, Fafung Masters from Fafung and the local side, Maplankeng Masters came together to honour Madiba through acts of service to the community of Jericho. Joined in their efforts by Letsatsi Finance as well as sports nutrition company, Ultimate Sport Nutrition (USN), the group donated sanitary towels, water bottles and school shoes to the learners.
“In honouring Madiba, we deemed it fit that as football clubs, to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate, “ said Mr. Rodney Mataboge from Brits Masters. His sentiments were echoed by the Chairman of Jacaranda Masters, Mr Robert Maake, who indicated that his football club was committed to ensuring that it uses football as a vehicle to impact impoverished communities. The needs at the school includes sports equipment for the learners, computers, printers and proper ablution facilities. The charity event was part of the activities of the commemoration of Mandela Day.
Earlier in the week, management and players of Maplankeng Masters spent the day at the school cleaning the yard as their part of honouring the late President Mandela. (Photos supplied)
