BRITS POS – BRITS - In its pursuit for safer communities through execution of various actions, SAPS High-Density Operations took place between Monday, 9 and Sunday, 15 September.
In total 1 328 suspects were arrested in North West for different offences.
“Assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) and common totals 205 arrests,” says Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone.
“Of the 1 328 arrests, 582 were effected during detectives suspect raiding operations. 176 suspected undocumented persons were arrested and handed to Immigration Officials for processing.
“During the operations, 2 081 persons, 1 009 vehicles and 172 premises were searched. In addition, 29 unlicensed liquor premises were shut down. Equally important, 29 second-hand goods dealers were inspected. “The operation also culminated in the confiscation of 37 rounds of ammunition, six firearms, tobacco products (475 packets of cigarettes), seven dangerous weapons, liquor and a variety of drugs,” Mokgwabone concludes.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena lauded all role players for their diligence and that provincial management will continue to redirect resources in a bid to ensure safer communities.
